About CANCAD

Bridging the Gap

There is limited access to quality cancer care in Nigeria, although this is layered on the challenges facing healthcare in the country generally.

CANCAD aims to do a little to bridge that gap.

How We Started

CANCAD owes our foundation to the convener Dr. Qudus Lawal, who started advocacy on Cervical Cancer with a colleague about 10 years ago. His passion towards whittling down the scourge of cervical cancer drove him to a sustained campaign even while training to eventually become a specialist in women's health.

In 2020, Dr. Lawal started working with a group of enterprising medical students to drive policy change in Nigeria through ECCNI and also through outreaches to schools and communities.

In 2023, we expanded our scope and rebranded from ACCIN (advocates for cervical cancer control in Nigeria) to Cancer Advocacy Nigeria (CANCAD).
