Childhood Cancer Awareness Webinar
In Nigeria, like many other low and middle income countries, outcomes for childhood and adolescent cancers can be much better. A large part of this is likely due to late diagnosis influenced by a low index of suspicion.
During this month of September which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we focused on promoting awareness on childhood cancers. Our main event was a webinar in partnership with;
Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP)
Bio Venture for Global Health (BVGH) and
Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS)
The themes were: Overview of WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer:THE CUREALL FRAMEWORK and
Reducing the Burden of Childhood Cancers through Early Detection: THE ROLE OF PRIMARY CARE PROVIDERS

Hepatitis Day July 2023
Viral hepatitis especially B & C are some of the leading causes of liver cancer worldwide. CANCAD marked World Hepatitis Day by holding free screening and vaccination across 4 sites in Abuja, Edo and Ebonyi states.
With the support of our partners, we were able screen more than 500 people for Hepatitis B & C, and vaccinate more than 200 for Hepatitis B as well. All at no expense. Full report and photos.
No Tobacco Day May 2023
Smoking is the biggest risk factor for lung cancer and other different cancers to varying degrees. It also leads to a generally reduced quality of life.
For World NoTobacco Day 2023, we ran a month-long online campaign and held outreaches across 2 sites in Edo state. Our teams partnering with the Department of Psychiatry ISTH visited a commercial motor park and mini market to interact with at-risk groups on the dangers of smoking especially relating to risk of cancer.
