Hello from CANCAD Nigeria.
I am seeking your support in the fight against cancer in Nigeria.
There is a desperate gap in accessible and quality cancer care in Nigeria with poor outcomes - and we are dedicated to bridging it.
CANCAD is a volunteer-led charity for the awareness, prevention and control of cancer in Nigeria. We support people living with cancer and their loved ones. We also advocate for health policy reform with relevant stakeholders, and sponsor critical cancer-related research.
Over the last few years we have held awareness campaigns and outreaches that benefited thousands of people across the country. Of note were the:
One Life, One Liver Campaign for World Hepatitis Day 2023 - with the support of our partners, we screened more than 500 indivuals for viral hepatitis which is a leading cause of liver cancer. We, also gave more than 200 of them the full course of Hepatitis B vaccines.
Breast Cancer Awareness PinkOctober 2024; Welfare visit to people living with breast cancer in Edo, Ebonyi and Lagos states, as well as awareness on early detection through screening and early detection.
Please find attached, the full 2024 Annual Report
We are geared up to do even more in 2025 - with your kind support.
Already in January, we had a very succssful and engaging online awareness event for Cervical Cancer Advocacy - with a total of 200K NGN in cash prizes given for promotion of Action to Prevent Cervical Cancer via short vidoes on Screening and HPV vaccination. We were able to motivate a huge number of young people to creatively join in advocacy, reaching thousands of people online.
Other Events and Projects Planned for 2025 include;
Prostate Cancer Patient Welfare
Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign
Breast Cancer Patient Welfare and Advocacy
Survivor Webinar for World Cancer Week
Research Papers
On-Site Cancer Patient Navigation and Support Groups
Participation in International Cancer Week, Abuja by NICRAT
The budget for these projects is 3,500,000 NGN (Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) and we will greatly appreciate any contributions towards this goal.
